Bill Jansen is a partner in Broker Risk Management, LLP, a law firm he founded in 2002 to provide risk management and transactional legal services to real estate brokers and agents throughout California. Shannon joined the law firm in February 2022.
Previously, Mr. Jansen was a founder and principal in Soma Living Real Estate where he acted as broker of record, Chief Legal Officer and member of the executive team. For twenty-three years, Mr. Jansen was an executive and broker with the Pacific Union family of companies overseeing operations, risk management, claims and the integrity of the real estate transactions of the various brokerage operations in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area.
Mr. Jansen holds a law degree from the University of Minnesota, and has earned the Certified Residential Broker (CRB) designation.
He holds a California DRE Broker license and has been a California Association of REALTORS® (CAR) director for more than thirty years, and was the 1986 President of the San Francisco Association of REALTORS® (SFAR). He has served on and chaired numerous committees at CAR and SFAR.
For 2023 he is appointed to serve a fourth three-year appointment to the CAR Strategic Planning and Finance Committee. In 2006, he was honored by CAR by being designated as a Director-for-Life.
Mr. Jansen is a DRE Continuing Education Instructor, a Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) instructor in “Broker Practice,” and has been a contributing author to the CEB publication “Real Property Sales Transactions.” He has been a speaker and panel member on numerous occasions for the CAR Legal Affairs Forum, The State Bar of California, the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) and the Alameda County Bar Association.
